What does Heartbeat actually do?
Heartbeat's core feature is it's ability to analyze your sales data. The reports received from Apple are hardly readable even when imported into a spreadsheet application. Heartbeat fixes this problem by re-organizing your sales data into a very user friendly format that you can dig into without having to do any math! Outside of the sales reporting features, Heartbeat also allows you to track your application usage, receive crash reports from your users, read reviews & rankings, manage your balances, manage the payments that you receive from Apple and even has piracy detection features. There's not much that Heartbeat doesn't do.
Why is Heartbeat better than (insert product name)?
Heartbeat is better, because it's not the same. If you're looking to get a quick idea of whether or not you made money on the AppStore, there are solutions out there for that already. However, if you want a complete solution that allows you to see your AppStore business at a glance, then you need Heartbeat. Heartbeat's ever expanding platform allows you (the developer) to quickly get the information you need so you can focus on developing your software rather than managing your business.
Does Heartbeat support any other platforms besides the AppStore?
No, Heartbeat's abilities are currently limited to the AppStore; however, we do have very big plans in the future to expand Heartbeat's abilities to things other than the AppStore.
Why isn't Heartbeat a native Mac app?
When we were coming up with the idea for Heartbeat, we played with the idea of Heartbeat being a standalone native Mac application; however, as we began adding new features, we were being limited by not having a presence in the cloud. This ultimetly lead us to make Heartbeat completely web-based which allowed us to offer a ton of new features and made it much more "team friendly". Anyone, anywhere can use Heartbeat. We didn't want to lose that.
