Learn more about Heartbeat and how it can help you run your business.

Dashboard

The dashboard is what you see as soon as you login. Important notifications regarding Heartbeat's performance and features are all listed here along with a snapshot of all of the sales for your applications. From the dashboard you can quickly access your sales breakdown, the report upload section and most importantly, your balance information.

As Heartbeat grows, the dashboard will become more and more vital to your AppStore operations. Customizeable panels and deeper integration into Heartbeat's inner workings to quickly acknowledge the user of information will be implemented shortly.

Stats

In the past, it was impossible to get information about how your applications were being used. In fact, unless you wanted to wait 24 hours, you weren't even able to find out how many sales you did until the day was over. Usage statistics changes all of that.

With Heartbeat, you can see what's going on with your applications as it's happening. Usage statistics are displayed in a simple, yet informative view. They allow you to see how many times people are opening your application (and during what hours), and which of these are new users. By knowing which users are new, you can estimate how many potential sales you've racked up for any given day and even find out which parts of the day did better for you.

You can also find out how many users are using different firmwares, networks, versions and devices.

Sales

How much did we make yesterday? That question is what plagues most iPhone developers. Mostly because it's impossible to know unless you whip out your spreadsheet skills and begin crunching the numbers on your daily reports. This is what we used to do. We would sit down every morning and begin looking through the daily sales reports for the day before. After the whole mess of a job was done, we had a general idea of how much revenue each application brought in, but because of the different currencies and what not, we were never absolutely sure.

That's really what drove us to build Heartbeat. Today, the question of "How much did we make yesterday?" is more easily answered. A quick look at Heartbeat's sales breakdown shows you quickly how all of your applications performed without you having to do a thing. It'll even calculate other important information for you so you can find out how you did in January vs. December and how you did this Monday compared to last Monday. Heartbeat differentiates your sales better than you could ever do on paper by further seperating your updates from your refunds from your actual sales.

Sales (Detailed)

Want more information? No problem. Heartbeat digs deeper and gives you sales data for each price point and for each currency too. Know how your applications are performing at Tier 1 vs Tier 3. What good are sales numbers if you don't know how much each of them makes you?

Trends

See your sales. Graphs and charts allow you to see how your applications have been performing over the past 30 days. See which days performed better and see trends in your data. With Heartbeat's trends, you can quickly identify patterns in your sales such as "greater sales occur mid-week" or "Mondays perform the best".

As Heartbeat grows, so will the trend analysis tools. Many new features are already in the works.

Balance Management

Instantly know how much you've made. Balance management quickly shows you your balances in every currency that you work with on the AppStore. Quickly identify your balances and know how much you should be expecting from Apple. You can even modify these balances by using offsets when you receive payments from Apple. If you were already paid $50,000 from Apple, your balances should reflect that payment. With Heartbeat, they do.

Sales Reports

Heartbeat utilizes your AppStore reports to gather the information it needs for it's analysis. Heartbeat's simple interface allows you to quickly upload these reports in bulk (by uploading a zip file) or one by one. The daily overview calendar gives you a breakdown of what reports you're missing and what you already have, so your account will always be kept up to date. Heartbeat NEVER directly accesses iTunesConnect; however, we have built tools that allow you to easily automate report retrieval, safely and securely.

Crash Reporting

Ellusive bugs can't hide any longer. Every iPhone developer knows that there's always that one user who's constantly reporting crashes that you simply cannot duplicate. Knowing what caused those crashes is not easy. In fact, the only way for a developer to really know what happened is to get the crash logs (if they haven't already been deleted). Getting those logs is NOT easy for you or your user. Your best chance is hoping that your users are tech savvy, or you won't get anything out of them.

Heartbeat fixes that problem by providing a way for your application to automatically detect and send crash reports to Heartbeat for you to later analyze.

Crash Analysis

Crashes are easily read right from Heartbeat. You can quickly review them to see if they're of any importance, or you can download the .crash file directly to your machine for further analysis. Either way, Heartbeat provides you with the tools you need to identify crashes and keep them organized.

Manage Your Account

The AppStore is global. So is Heartbeat. If your native currency or number format is different than the default setting, you can easily change it. Heartbeat was built to work for everyone, not just us.

Manage Your Applications

Easily add your applications to Heartbeat and let it take control of your AppStore business. Heartbeat doesn't need much information though. Pop in your app's name, apple id, vendor id, start date and pick a hex color and you're ready to go. Heartbeat is designed to work with very limited information. We don't want information that we don't need. This helps Heartbeat remain safe and secure.

Manage Your Profile

Keep it localized. With seperate user accounts, everyone can see their AppStore performance personalized just for them. In the future, user management will become more advanced with limitations placed on what each account can do. This will come in handy when you want to allow a user to only access usage stats or crash reports and not your sales data.

Get the help you need. Heartbeat is pretty easy to use; however, sometimes you'll have some questions. Get the help you need directly from Heartbeat. Heartbeat's help section will continue to grow and include non-Heartbeat questions that will serve as another source for information in a world where information from the source (Apple) is very limited.

Tightly Integrate Your Apps

Heartbeat's power comes from it's ability to be tightly integrated with your applications. To achieve this, we've built a great framework that developers can drop right into their iPhone applications. This framework allows developers to send reporting statistics to Heartbeat as well as crash reports. It even has built in support to auto-detect piracy and gives you options on defending against it.

Automate Report Retrieval

iTunesConnect is a real pain. One of the main objective's when developing Heartbeat was to completely eliminate iTunesConnect from the picture for reporting purposes. While this was easy to achieve for our own personal use, we had some difficulties with how we would do this on a larger scale. We ended up with a pretty slick method of automating report retreival by providing our users with the tools to do it themselves. By doing it this way, Heartbeat never accesses your iTunesConnect account. Can't get any sweeter than that!

Integrate with Heartbeat

Do anything. Heartbeat's API allows you to integrate with Heartbeat in ways that you never thought were possible. We're developers too, and we keep finding ways to make Heartbeat more integrated into our other business applications. The API is just the start. Over the next few months we'll be expanding on the API and we'll even start adding event hooks to notify your backend applications when something is done. Imagine uploading a monthly report and having is automatically create the invoices in your favorite accounting application. The possibilites are endless.
